Oatmeal-raisin cream pies

We just came back from Maine, where our friends have a lake cottage that they generously loan us on occasion. Near the cottage, in Buxton*, is a little local grocery store called Plummer's. We discovered last summer, and reaffirmed this past weekend, that Plummer's makes unbelievably good oatmeal-raisin cream pies. For those unfamiliar with the concept, it's basically two oatmeal-raisin cookies with a sweet cream filling sandwiched in between. What makes the Plummer's version so perfect is that the cookies are outstanding: chewy, moist, just the right amount of spice. They also have a good cookie-to-cream ratio, which is something I've discussed previously.

If you happen to find yourself near Buxton, Maine, be sure to stop by Plummer's and look for these cream pies near the checkout counter or in the bakery area.

Buxton is the place in the Shawshank where Andy tells Red to go to find the big oak tree! Do I get the points! Great movie and also great tip on the cream pies, however I am in the UK, but I am over in the states next year and will try my best to visit!
